Preliminary Exercise 4: Analyzing Mise en scene

What is Mise en scene

The movie I use to understand the topic of mise en scene is Inside out 2. The genre of the movie is coming to age, and the subgenre is comedy. How it is communicated through the opening scene of the movie, by Riley's emotion explaining Riley growth from the first movie. How she was able to make friends and join the hockey team. The producers of the film show this through the shots/scene in the opening scene. They show the colors of the emotions characters and to show how Riley feels, for example when she gets made at another player. Anger shows up and hits of red is shown in lighting. The also show through lighting to show how Riley is the main character, through how she was the first one to show up in the hockey ring by the lighting brighten up. It commutates how Riley is the main character and how we are following her growing up.

 -Reflection

Through this assignment of analyzing Mise en scene, I was able to understand the elements of it. Through the opening scene, it shows what all the elements mean to send a message to the audience. By making the table I was able to know each element and what it means for the story and the message behind it. The process of making this table, which is a presentation, it was able to show what each element of Mise en scene mean, and how it was shown in the film. The technology I use to do the work was Word, I use it because it is easy to use as me being a beginner. Through this exercise I was able to learn about the how everything in a film sends a message, through the acting, lighting, and even costumers. It is there to show the story or the characters feelings. With working on this I was able to take the information I learn and put it in my movie.
