2. How would you describe the sound in the opening sequence, and what were the decisions made by the sound engineer to support the genre of the film? 

The sound of the opening scene is what you would hear in real life. Having the noises of the life of the family with the sounds of having breakfast and playing with the family member is a great way to show how connected the family is. It’s good at the beginning, but slowly becomes bad because of the changes Rory and Allsion go through, this is mainly on Rory because of his obsession of success.  

3. Provide examples from the sequence's dialogue, music, and sound effects. 

Sound Techniques and Definitions	Document sound	Meaning is established by sounds to support the genre.
Dialogue	These two lines are from Rory, he convinces Allison about why this move to London is good for them. This tone he uses is a way to persuade his wife and slowly this situation is not what it seems. Which leads to the thriller aspect of the film.	The meaning of the dialogue is to show how persuading and determined Rory is. He wants his way, so he can have his success. Having a main character like this will turn extreme, which is a theme in thrillers.
Sound effects	The sound effects of Rory banging his phone on the best, to show his anger to show how he is not trusting. And slowly turning into a danger, and with the dancing scene with Sam, she is feeling neglected by her family. So, the music and her being numb by it goes to the psychological aspect of the film.	The sounds used in those scenes show how their situation got bad. Rory made decisions that caused his family to be so bad.
Music	Music was not used in the opening, because the director wanted the sounds of the noise of everyday life for them. So, eating breakfast, doing work, and their family life was shown.	With the use of no music in the opening, it how normal they were in the beginning. They were a family and treated each other like so.
